About Me

My Training and Approach

I am a trained counsellor with experience of supporting people with a wide range of personal challenges.

My approach to addiction combines professional coaching with the deep understanding that comes from lived experience. I believe recovery from addiction is possible for anyone who truly wants it, and I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and begin to rebuild your life.  I tailor sessions very much to cater for individual needs and together we can work on practical steps towards your recovery, creating coping strategies based on honesty both for living a healthy life and preventing relapse.  This will include, among other things, goal-setting and the use of cognitive behavioural therapy.

I spend a lot of time with people struggling with various addictions and I firmly believe that their paths to recovery are similar.  Addiction affects every part of your life but dealing with such raw emotions such as guilt and shame are common to most addicts.  It has been said that while you keep a problem (addiction or anything else!) to yourself, then the problem controls you.  Talk about it, and you start to take control of the problem.

Why I Do This Work

I know first-hand the fear, uncertainty and damage to lives that addiction can bring — and I also know the joy and freedom of living in recovery.  My greatest reward is helping people rediscover their strength, rebuild relationships, and find a new way forward in their life.
